Wrong Kinda Butter

Hari Raya Aidilfitri was less than a week ago. Naturally I was busy baking cookies and cakes. This year I attempted more of my late grandmother’s recipe and a few local cookies I got off the internet.

Some slight mishaps happened due to the fact that I used expensive French butter instead of regular Buttercup bars. I made an assumption that the better butter with better content would produce better results but that ain’t true at all.

Perhaps, in the olden days expensive butter was not accessible or it was just too pricey to be an option for those recipes. My cookies did not turn out so pretty, they were oily and expanded too much. Despite the cheats that I read, I still felt they weren’t aesthatically pleasing. They still tasted good though.

Will try again in the upcoming weeks and share comparison images. So next time, local cookies just use Buttercup!

Lesson learned.
