WFH – Work From Home
A lot of people are pretty psyched over WFH due to this pandemic. But let me drill a few truth about WFH.
That’s me working while on a quick break in Penang. This hotel was all sorts of beautiful and tickles my fancy.
I have been working from home for years, can’t recall exactly how long it has been. I am also a remote worker, making me available to do work for anyone from anywhere around the world. I too can work from anywhere. There have been instances where I was working from the UK, Paris, Marrakesh and more.
As mentioned, this post is about things that you did not know about WFH and perhaps a dose of tips too.
1. Too much time or too little time
Some days you’d feel like you have a lot of time and some days you’d feel like you are rushing everything. If you’re wondering why it is due to our productivity.
When you work from home, it is so easy to get distracted and even feel lazy. Or that’s the extremes of wanting to finish work early so you overdo it. You’d pull all-nighters to finish up a week’s worth of work or so forth.
It ain’t healthy. So it would be best to set weekly goals and daily tasks. When it is visible, it is easier to manage your time and tick it off.
2. Skipping meals or working during meal breaks
This is something that tends to happen. You’d get so consumed in work that you delay eating, or thoroughly forgetting about it or decide to do work while eating.
STOP THAT! It is bad. You need to replenish and eat a good time to maintain your concentration, to take a breath, to stretch and take a break from work. Taking a break is NOT BAD! There is no wrong in this. Savour your breaks, you’d feel better that your work quality would improve too.
3. Working from your bed
If you have attempted this, you’d know that this is the worst thing to be done. It is bad for your posture, it can induce neck pain and lead to headaches and migraines.
It will also make you feel too comfortable and lazy. Next thing you know, you’d snooze off and miss your deadlines.
Always. work from a desk. If you can, do designate a spot/section/corner/space as your “mini office”. It sets you in the right mood.

4. Not showering
Treat working from home like working from an office, get up. Make your bed. Shower and put on some loungewear or even “dress up”. Have breakfast. Read some news and then begin with work. Keep that routine going. It helps! I too am guilty of this from time to time.
If you feel the need to dress up and slap on some makeup. Do it! Nobody is judging, you do you!
5. It can get lonely
If you are currently working from home or if you are a solopreneur, don’t be discouraged or feel low and lonely. Always, always communicate with your team-mates, your boss, your clients or like-minded people.
Text them, invite them over to work at your place or even meet-up at cafes to do work together. Most of the time, if you text your bosses or workmates or people who work on their own ie freelancers, they’d truly understand.
If you have a work struggle or personal struggle. Speak up and inform. Because if you can’t manage that, how likely can any expectation be managed?
A good cup of coffee already makes me more productive!
6. I don’t do papers, I don’t print out. I go digital!
As much as you want to go digital and use minimal paper, sometimes you’d still need the most basic thing ever; pen and paper.
Write things down. Scribble. Do your list. It helps! It helps to stay focused and organized. Did I tell you how amazing it feels to cross off something you’ve completed? Try it for yourself to believe me!
Hope the above deets enlightens your WFH. I too am guilty of slacking and losing focus. Writing this here helps as a reminder too. Have a productive week commencing tomorrow aka now cause it is Monday already!
This has got to be my favourite working nook during my remote work!
