Cotton On

Cotton On, a familiar name for those who have been to Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and also Singapore. A store that sells loads of basics. It has finally arrived in the heart of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.

I’ve always loved the store as they have reasonable clothes. Their cardigans are just pure love. They also have a wide range of ballet flats by Rubi Shoes.

I had the chance to pay the store a visit. I had high hopes as I approached the store. Was hoping to hear them blast out loud elctro funk music. They used to play them real loud back in Brissy. Got closer to the store, it didn’t exactly have the same feel but yet they kept it cramp. Just like the original ones ;p

Clothes were still hang in dozens. The mass production was still their game plan. Great. Loving the wide range of basics. But…their stocks seems old. Not many new pieces. I’ve seen those shorts and those tank top back in 2oo7. Wonder why? Is this like DFO?

Rubi Shoes were their top sellers. Even I wanted to buy a couple of pairs. I managed to hold myself back. Hehe. My shoe rack is out of space for newbies. Perhaps soon. But I did by a few basics. I eyed this pair of sneakers, it has this laid back feel about it. It’s not a need for now, but when I have the extra beans. Am definitely coming back for them babies.

Do pay Cotton On a visit.

Level 4, Pavillion, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

I’ll post up some image when I go get my new babies then. Have fun shopping. It’s a store worth visiting.

Here’s a short history on Cotton On. As written on their site.

“Cotton On Group is a retail powerhouse renowned for its winning combination of globally relevant fashion and stunningly low prices. From modest beginnings as a family business founded in 1991 in Geelong, Australia, Cotton On has quickly evolved. It’s now a bona fide fashion destination boasting 450 stores and 4500 employees. From its original Cotton On offer, the group has successfully branched into intimates, sleepwear & activewear with Cotton On Body; children’s fashion with Cotton On Kids; footwear with Rubi shoes; and gifts & stationery with Typo. Already boasting as significant presence in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, we will also open in mainland China in July 2009, followed by the US in October 2009. With a vision to open stores into the thousands in the coming 5 years, Cotton On Group is taking the world by storm.”

It’s cos they always bring the same things back every other season. I saw heaps of stuff they had for oodles and oodles so I guess Cotton On’s just a fan of old favorites. Also, they do push old stock from store to store so they end up with heaps of stuff.

That’s true but it makes it look really cluttered at times.

But it ain’t all that bad. At least it’s affordable.

  6. Anon says:

It sucks!Don’t pay their staff everything from Socso,EPF and salary!!

  7. juwita says:

This happens in a lot of company. Even bigger firms have this problem too.
You could always make your own investment. Or transfer your own EPF.
I’ve been there. It ain’t so bad as long as you have some of your own investment.

  8. juwita says:

Poor you. But hey, it happens in bigger firms too.
You could always transfer your own money into EPF. Or better yet, invest your money in a better investment plan. There’s many out there.
I’ve been in your shoes too. :)

  9. Anon says:

Dear Juwita…what i mean is they deduct it out from your salary but it never appears in your KWSP account. Now a whole bunch of resigning and resigned staff lodge it and become court case…LOL!

  10. juwita says:

I just lost my job from cotton on. On Christmas eve-all I did was question the safety standards! They are complete bastards that have no respect for people. They constantly cheat staff and customers. They make people do things that are unsafe and its only a matter of time before an employee really hurts or kills themselves. As long as I live I will tell everyone-never work at cotton on. Never buy cotton on. Its shit quality and they pay like 30cents for a tshirt they sell for 30bucks.

Which Cotton On do you work at?
It happens at a lot of company :)
Better luck next time you get a job.
