She Turns 82

March 21 2009, my grandma who I call tok turned 82. Long life to you tok.

The real plan was to gather the whole family and have a dinner together. Since, everybody had their own agenda yet again. My dad decided to treat my tok on a dinner of our own. It was just my dad, my mum, my brothers, my aunty and myself. We went to one of my favourite restaurants which is Pakeeza. Later on we had a shopping spree at Ikea and a little coffee session for supper.

I really love the food at Pakeeza and I would only bring people that I truly care about to this place. The price is reasonable with very good service and good ambiance. I have been coming to this place since I was still in primary school. That’s long.

Well back to my tok. It’s really fun having her around. Though she mostly stays with my aunty. When she comes to visit us, she’d be my roomie. It’s nice having her at home. She loves watching the TV. That’s what she enjoys doing nowadays. She’d watch all her favourite shows and then go down and suggest some super scrumptious meals for my maid to cook. In the late afternoon, she’d come back up and watch a bit of TV and get a power nap. She’d then go down and have tea in the garden with my mum.

Isn’t her life just relaxing. I wish I could just relax and have a lifestyle like her’s ;p

I love my tok dearly. She’s the only elderly person left in the family. My grandparents on my father’s side has passed away when I was pretty young and my grandfather on my mother’s side passed on a few years back. So, while I still have my tok, I will spend as much quality time as I can with her.

My tok loves talking to me before she goes to bed. She’d talk about the shows that she watches and ask me about my work, my life, my friends and many more. She will always ask me about this one particular person who isn’t family yet dear to her. I have no idea why and I never asked her in depth why she always ask about him. But I will tell her what I know if she ask me.

I will never ever forget a conversation I had with her on the telephone on the 11 February 2007. It was so touching and it moved me. I cried when she gave me those beautiful advices. Til this very day I still hold on to what she said to me.

She told me to be patient in life and that at times people might not know what is best for me. Always to have faith in yourself and if I think it’s right hold on to it. Fight for what I want and what I believe. She also said that “He’s a great young man”.

Basically, follow your heart. If you love someone, don’t let others come in between you no matter what.

I love you tok. Always and forever.
