Facebook

I have been an active user of Facebook since 2006. I am not shy to admit that I log on to it more than twice a day. Addicted you say? So what, I know you yourself do it. Don’t lie to me and start with all the nonsense of saying I don’t have a life or saying that you aren’t into it as much as I am. But no I can live without it. I did and I can if I want to.

I first got an invitation from my cousin but ignored it. Then another friend asked me to join, my cousin was still asking me to do so. Why not right? What’s the harm ain’t it?

At the time that I started using Facebook, it was still exclusive. It was just made available to overseas students. Yes at that particular time, I was still in QUT.

Facebook was created back in 2004, by a group of Computer Science students at Harvard University. It was first called Facemash then to The Facebook and finally the ever famous Facebook. It was born to connect students of Harvard University then expanded to Yale, Stanford and Columbia. Next up they spread out to Ivy Leagues and the rest was history.

I have a love hate relationship with Facebook. At times I love it for the purpose of marketing my business and sometimes I just hate it. But it’s fun and cool too. It’s an awesome way for me to keep connected with my friends who are scattered all over the world. At least, I get to see how they are, what their up to and so on. I enjoy going through pictures, as pictures tell a thousand words.

Facebook is also a source of entertainment for me. It really is. Going through people’s album and seeing how they act. How they carry themselves. How they comment. How they speak. Seriously, it’s so amusing. You can tell a lot from this.

My particular favourite is how people try to speak and how they try in to blend in within a crowd. It’s funny. Oh yes yes, how can I ever forget. People commenting on them status, without knowing the meaning. Or even if they don’t get the joke. Or if they don’t understand what others are mentioning.

Come on! Please don’t try. Just be true to yourselves.

I know am not listed in KL’s most famous people or someone to stalk or what nots. But I do know that I count as a person. I really don’t try to fit in by being someone am not or putting up a slang or trying to speak like someone else. Other people might have a different vocab and mine might differ. But that’s exactly what makes me, me. I stay true. They may sound cooler but that’s them. Not me.

Another thing interesting about Facebook is the user’s creative in photography. I love to go through the captivating and artistic profile photos. If it’s good, I’d definitely say it is. Hehe. I am such a sucker for great pictures.
A plus point for it would be the Group application. It’s so easy to market a business or an event online. You can notify your customers using it in a breeze. Hehe.

I also notice that some people use Facebook as a form of online social climbing. They have a gazillion friend. Do they really know this entire amount of people? If they do, they should really start campaigning to be the next Mayor or Prime Minister ey. Crazy I tell you.

To conclude this, I really don’t know if I truly hate Facebook or do I madly love Facebook. As for now, it’s amsuingly resourceful. Period.
